Belarus approves ratification of the treaty of the Eurasian Economic Union

On December 10, the Parliament of the Republic of Belarus adopted the draft law On Ratification of the Treaty on Trademarks, Service Marks and Appellations of Origin of Goods of the Eurasian Economic Union.

The Treaty provides filing of one application for a trademark, service mark or appellation of origin of the Eurasian Economic Union to any of the member states patent offices. Among the advantages are the reduction of the financial burden, the acceleration of the procedure for obtaining legal protection, free movement of goods and services across the territory of the Union and the attraction of foreign applicants.

The agreement will enter into force after all EAEU member states have completed the necessary domestic procedures following the provision of written notification to the depositary.

Earlier the Treaty was ratified by the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
