Changes to Uzbekistan fee schedule starting January 1, 2025
As of January 1, 2025, Uzbekistan will introduce major revisions to its schedule of official fees for intellectual property services.
Previously, these fees varied based on the applicant's residency — whether he is an Uzbek resident or not. However, in line with the country’s efforts to bring its legal framework up to global standards and harmonize trade regulations with WTO rules, fees will now be determined by the applicant’s legal status instead of residency.
This change will result in significantly lower fees for foreign applicants. For instance, the fee for filing a patent application with one independent claim and conducting formal examination will decrease from 6 375 000 UZS to 750 000 UZS for individuals and 1 500 000 UZS for legal entities. Similarly, the cost for preparing and filing a trademark application in one class will drop from 9 000 000 UZS to 1 500 000 UZS for individuals and 2 250 000 UZS for legal entities. Annuities and other IP-related fees will also see reductions, with an average decrease of approximately 75% across all services, effective January 1, 2025.
